So with the breaking news that Chris Evans wants to leave Marvel, and RDJ's hubabaloo about possibly not reupping as Tony Stark after IM3, I'm starting to get a little pissed.
Why? Because these are important characters. Important stories. A lot of people grew up reading The Avengers, and were molded into the people that they are because they grew up wanting to be super heroes. I know I did.
So what do we do? Well, once these actors express that they no longer want to take the job or the fans serious enough to be dedicated to the role, shit can them. I'm dead serious. These guys don't deserve the love or adoration fans give them, 8 or 80. One day, there will be a kid who meets Chris Evans, and will think that he's legit Captain America, and he'll probably blow the kid off and break his heart.
Fuckers.

Well, to be fair, The Avenger's ensemble changes up very frequently. And Bucky takes over for Captain America for periods of time, so...

I know that Bucky switches in. But that's not the point I was tryin to make. Chris obviously doesn't understand how important his role as Steve Rogers is. The Steve Rogers version of Captain America is a cultural icon, and what a lot of kids wanted to grow up to be. Him bitching about how he can't wait to get out of his contract is completely disrespectful.

Maybe he's tired of having to maintain that physique?

Lol. Maybe. But he is an actor. If I had the kind of time they did between shoots, I'd be doin 3 a days.

I view each actor as a different artist. Imagine the next actor to portray Cap is so good he makes Chris Evans look like a Rob Liefeld interpretation.
All the actors have been nailing their respective roles though.

Maybe he just wants a damn jelly doughnut, he's earned it.
He also might have gotten a terrible cut of the money with a shitty contract.

Whatever he's gettin paid, I'll do it for half. Just to be Captain America lol

I tried that, but apparently they don't want a fat, old Capt America. Who knew?

I really like the Marvel series movies, and I think they are among the best made, but with the production schedule and the road-map they have out into the future... maybe these actors want to actually play other roles in other stories.
Individual character franchises intermixed with group avengers movies between them... great for keeping movie-goers, but a HUGE commitment that takes up a lot of the actor's careers, with iconic characters, no doubt, but little creative lee-way.

You're right, we don't get posters like this anymore. This had a little something for everyone.

In the new winter soldier Bucky is the winter soldier which is crap because then he can't fill in for captian America

Oh yes he can.
His contract is longer for more movies.

I'm just saying. You're in a role that literally everyone knows, and more or less represents your country and its ideals, which is a big deal at the time. And kids everywhere want to be you. Not want to know you, want to BE you. Even some adults view themselves as sharing a kindred relation to your character. You're even making millions of dollars for it too. And you're going to go around saying "oh I can't wait for it to be over"?
That's not right. And that's why I say amputate these guys from the series. It sucks changing characters, but they knew what they were signing on for. They just wanted to build their résumé and make the money. They're like athletes that are only in it for the money.

Then you end up with things like Superman and Batman, trying to re-boot it every time, with Brandon Routh, then Henry Cavill, and now a Superman/Batman with Ben Affleck (remember DareDevil?) as Batman, after successes like Keaton and Bale, but misses from decent actors like Clooney and Kilmer.... How many Spider Man or Incredible Hulk franchise re-boots do there need to be? Is anyone even considering a sequel or re-boot to Green Lantern?
I am not sure the fans really want a Darren Stevens situation, played by Dick York, then by Dick Sergeant without breaking the fourth wall to acknowledge it... All of the sudden the husband character on Bewitched, pretty much the top-rated american sitcom during it's run, is completely different, no explanation.
"Sheyeah.... as if we wouldn't notice!, wait... Dick York, Dick Sergeant... Sergeant York!"
This sort of thing is why Benedict Cumberbatch didn't take the role of Doctor Who, after his friend David Tennant... an iconic role can become a confining definition of a career, and perhaps a type-cast.... He would have possibly been the best Doctor since Tom Baker... but in doing it... he may always have been "The Doctor" after that, rather than an actor of his own versatility.
